Cookies, Cruisin’ and Craftsman

Auntie Kim and Uncle Kevin sent us some ADORABLE cookies that were not only cute, but most yumalicious too! Mommy and Daddy thoroughly enjoyed them! Thanks Auntie Kim and Uncle Kevin!!

Friday was an eventful day for all of us. Kevin took the day off work and went with Breken and I for Breken’s circumcision. It wasn’t nearly as bad as I anticipated, probably because Dr. Schill’s nature is so calming and reassuring. She explained every little step in her calm voice and warned us when Breken might get upset. I was armed with a pacifier and cup of sugar water, constantly dipping and plugging. Of course he liked the sugar, and it actually makes them a little sleepy, so it gave me a “job” and kept little Breken peaceful in between owie processes. Kevin stood behind me with one hand on Breken and one arm around me. With a loving and supportive husband and soothing Doc I was able to watch it all and comfort Breken as much as possible.

At our appointment Friday we discussed breast feeding with Dr. Schill because we only got a very small but of milk and it was a fight to get Breken to latch on because there wasn’t much of an incentive when he did. He would latch and not get much and just get frustrated. I pumped a few times and gave him the bottle which was fine, but doctor Schill and I discussed the options, and the fight just didn’t seem worth it. I would be a slave to the pump trying to get my milk to REALLY come in by pumping every hour or two, and there was still no guarantee that I would get a full milk supply. So, Kevin and I agreed yesterday that we’re okay with formula and we’ll try again with the next child if we’re blessed enough to have another opportunity.

Following our visit to the doctor we came home and relaxed for a bit while Breken napped. He sleeps most of the days and likes to keep mommy awake at night, so we try to keep him awake a bit during the day in effort to slowly get him to sleep more at night and less during the day. So we decided to go for our first cruise in the Bob stroller Friday evening and thought the fresh air and ride might keep him awake a little longer. I think it did for a while, but the vibration of the rough road that initially stimulated him, slowly lulled him to sleep. Thanks Mormor (Grandma Inger) for “Bob” the stroller that made our journey so smooth and enjoyable!

As you can see, Breken helped daddy repair the ice machine. Kevin insisted that he learn early! I’m wonder if he’s going to have the same fascination with tools as his daddy…. I can only hope he’s just as handy!

Saturday was my first time completely alone with Breken, and it was wonderful! I was nervous about juggling everything on my own, but it just fine, and I needed the confidence boost.

Sunday is our wedding anniversary and I can’t imagine a better gift than the precious Breken. It will be hard to top this one!
